Edited by: Xeiyu Crimson on 24/10/2008 02:08:03 Does anyone have premium working with stations and ships rendering on an ati card?
I'm using a hd4850 and the latest wine + catalyst driver. I can run classic and premium, but in premium no ships or stations render.
EDIT: Found a screenshot the describes my problem. Screenshot

The patch was actually made by KeithG, however I'm not 100% which ATI cards need the uniforms and varying changes (none of the nvidia cards should need them). The 1024, 1024, 52 is based off the latest released cards by AMD (the hd4800 series) so if the patch isn't working trying lowering the varying value by a multiple of 4 (48, 44, 40, so on). It could be possible that the hd2000 series of cards might support only 512 uniforms too or maybe even some hd3000 cards. Until AMD releases fixed drivers it's impossible to tell, also when I tried using 2048 uniforms for my card (hd4850) wine just crashed so that's a good indicator if your card doesn't support 1024 uniforms.
I've tried the 9.4rc1 catalyst beta but the fix isn't in it yet (glxinfo -l shows opengl capabilities), also I told the AMD devs how to install eve on wine so hopefully they can figure out the problem. They had a bug that caused messageboxes to spawn repeatedly but from the pic it looked like the old empyrean age client, so I gave them a link to the Apocrypha client full install. |

I tried out the patches on the mailing list and it looks like with a little luck the next version of wine will run EVE with no patches for most users. Only ATI users who want to run eve on high shader settings will need to modify the wine source in order to work around an ATI varying quirk, low and medium shader settings didn't seem to call on the varying bug.
